Exploring the Latest Release with Younotus and Sam Feldt feat. Sam Gray

We had an exclusive interview with music maestro Martin Jensen! Join us to uncover his latest release which is a collab with Younotus and Sam Feldt feat. Sam Gray.

Hi Martin. Thank you for taking the time to have a chat with us. Tell us, which side of the world are you right now?

Thanks for having me! Right now I am at home in my studio in Copenhagen. I really enjoy performing to my fans on tour but there is no place like home!

You recently released a new track called “24K HEART OF GOLD” with YOUNOTUS, SAM FELDT and SAM GRAY. What was the inspiration behind the track?

For ‘24K Heart Of Gold’, Sam (Feldt) and I had been wanting to jump back into the studio together ever since our collaboration ‘Unwanted’. Where that was a lot more emotional and less “club-ready”, we wanted ‘24K Heart Of Gold’ to really shine and bring a blast of feel-good to our audiences! Sam Gray really captured the vibe of the track with his vocal going between these powerful waves, whereas the production is this fresh injection of house that switches between pumping beats and a jump-up vibe, but also retains an uplifting and meaningful message.

Fans are always curious about the stories behind the music. Can you share any personal moments during the creation of “24K HEART OF GOLD”?

It really comes down to the connection between us all collectively as artists. Every individual involved is going to have a different feeling, ethos and varied ideas on what we want to create, so the most personable part for me was allowing myself to open up and build that connection. I really hope my fans can feel each of our essence within the track, from Sam Gray’s writing and vocal delivery, over to all the production elements, from the commanding melodies over to the more fun and playful sections. As I mentioned to work with Sam Feldt again was something we’d talked about forever, and to bring some of the most exciting and fresh names into the mix as our collaborators really build a newer sense of community and a final product I am so proud to share.

Collaboration seems to be a recurring theme in your career. How do you choose your collaborators, and what do you enjoy most about working with other artists?

I enjoy collaborating and I particularly enjoy working with vocalists. I’ve always been a fan of genres like pop music, and house music can really take hold with a powerful vocal, some of which will be classics forever in electronic music. When collaborating with other artists, I really want to vibe with them on an idea that could be a certain genre we want to delve into, a topline we want to center ideas around, or maybe a melody or mood can strike inspiration. For me, collaboration is powerful to push each artist out of their comfort zone and get outside of – what can sometimes be – stalemate or uninspiring ideas.

Your music often incorporates diverse elements. How would you describe your musical style, and how has it evolved since you first started producing music?

I’m definitely more self-assured and confident as an artist. After the huge success of “Solo Dance” I was constantly having to try and tick boxes, for labels, for other people, my peers, because people wanted me to just become something of a hit machine. That isn’t me, whatsoever. I want to be able to flex my muscles within genres and different styles of dance music, and although my primary style has always been house music, sometimes I can go big-room, or ultra-ravey, and other times I really want to jump back into a pop and more commercial sound. It’s about staying true to myself creatively, so compared to the beginning, that is a side of me that has only strengthened as an artist.

As an artist who travels globally, how do different cultures and environments influence your music, and do you have a favorite place that particularly inspires you?

I always find travelling inspirational, to experience new cultures is such a blessing with my music. One of my favourite places to play would be anywhere in Asia, the food and people are so amazing and the crowds are always ready to dance. I also find that Asian audiences, from China to Japan and beyond, are some of the biggest dance music lovers on the planet.

Social media has become an integral part of artists’ careers… What role do you think social media plays in the music industry today?

It is super important, from promotion to offering your audience a look into your life both personally and professionally, but I do sometimes feel like it can be overwhelming. Social media should be to share but it has become another cog in the machine and, sometimes, can be a hindrance to keep up with which I find exhausting, but that is the nature of the beast!

Electronic dance music (EDM) has evolved over the years. How do you see the current state of the EDM scene, and what do you think the future holds for this genre?

I think as a genre, “EDM” in the broader big-room sense has really looked a lot more to the underground for the direction it has been heading in. A lot of the larger, main stage artists are now experimenting with techno or deeper house, and we are also seeing a lot more diversity in genres across line-ups. I think that is only a good think for all music lovers.

Fans are always eager to know about upcoming projects. Can you tease any exciting collaborations or new releases that you have in the pipeline?

For sure! I’ve just released my latest single ‘24K Heart Of Gold’ with Sam Feldt and YouNotUs feat Sam Gray, as you guys know, and the support has been insane already! Thank you all for listening, streaming and dancing to the track, I’m super excited to get out on tour to play it out to you all in person, which may happen sooner than you think… to keep up to date on my social media you can follow me across all my channels, and 2024 is going to be bigger and better than ever!
